Sculptures: Feminine Spirits
The female for is my favorite subject, regardless of the media.
The central theme of my body of artwork is feminine and personal; it is a diary of my life.
My topics range from lust to love; sensuality to motherhood; confidence to vulnerability.
"Festival of the Feminine Spirit" is my largest ceramic sculpture to date.
It was inspired by the struggle of defining life as a woman in the modern world.
The 5’ 7” female figure is composed from four totem-style hand-built ceramic forms.
Bas relief figures depict women in various moments of joy: one figure holds her belly in the first knowledge of pregnancy; another celebrates the joy of giving life and motherhood; others simply dance and worship life.
Spiritual text and designs are inscribed inside the bust piece (viewed from the back).
My handprints are used for the ribs, and my footprints are in the base piece.
